In my last video I showed how to multiply numbers containing only 1's together very quickly using an amazingly easy method. In this video I go over a proof, or more like a brief explanation, showing why the method works. This is very interesting and shows how multiplication brings up patterns which can be exploited to easily calculate large numbers without writing down all the steps in multiplication.

Amazing Math Property: Multiplying 1’s by each other – Simple Method

Proof on WHY It Works

Shoutout to Collin Malone for letting me know about this amazing method after he pointed out a simple way of solving the calculation in my earlier video:

111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12345678987654321 - Hand Calculation

Example 1 from my earlier video on the method:

11 x 111

Solution:

Simple Method

1. Count the number of 1’s.
2. Subtract 1 from that number; this is the number of digits
3. Count up until the number of digits of the smaller number is reached. The next digits will be the highest number until it can be counted down to fit the number of digits from step 1.
