My stay in Athens was a short business trip to deliver a workshop to a potential customer. But for me and my Spanish colleague it was the first time in Athens so we didn’t rush home. With the blessing of our manager, we scheduled our flights mid-afternoon and had a few hours in the morning for sightseeing.
The choice was obvious - Acropolis. We booked a guided tour. We wanted the stones to speak to us in plain English.
Even though I work in IT, part of my formal education back in school was Ancient Greek history and literature. I think it’s a foundation of what we call Europe. The Mycean and Classic Greek times gave birth to Europe as we know it.
