A hike with WWII history. My Actifit Report Card: September 28 2024

My today’s hike was centred on the “Riese Complex” - a set of tunnels built deep into Owl Mountains by Germany in 1944. They hoped to move their military production from west Germany to what is now in western Poland. It was never finished and legends and rumours abide. Like the Nazis produced there some secret weapons or that a “golden train” is hidden beneath the mountains.

We did 20+ kilometres in the mountains above the complex and did a guided tour in one of the underground museums.
