Hello Hive Friends!

What was supposed to be a simple trip to the hardware store turned into an unexpected and stressful experience! I went out to buy some materials for my next DIY project. However, when I started to drive out of the garage, my car's dashboard suddenly alerted me to a tire problem. Since this had happened before, I thought I´d just check the tire pressure later and slowly drove to the hardware store to buy the DIY materials. I parked the car, got out to check the wheels, and discovered that one of the rear tires had been punctured!

I decided to get my DIY materials first before calling the automobile club for assistance. About 20 minutes later, a technician arrived and discovered a long screw embedded sideways in the tire. Whether it was intentional or simply an unfortunate accident, nobody knows. :-(
Using a car jack, he removed the wheel, inflated the tire, pulled out the culprit screw, and repaired the hole with a special sealing material and adhesive. It was a temporary fix, but at least I could drive again!

Such screw that was taken from the punctured tire

This incident also reminded me of the security problems in my relatively new apartment complex, which has tenants from different nationalities. There have been several cases of petty theft, especially of tires in the underground garage and storage rooms. Some new cars were scratched, or windows were broken, vandalism at its peak! Unfortunately, I was also one of the victims when someone cut through the metal panels of my storage unit door after apparently failing to break the heavy padlock. Luckily, nothing particularly valuable was taken.

Many residents suspected that the burglaries might have been inside jobs, especially since the police found no signs of forced entry on the garage or storage-room access doors. The thieves entered the garage and storage rooms with their own keys.

Back to my tire problem: I decided it was time to replace the rear tires per the technician´s assessment. So I went to a tire shop and ordered two new winter tires for €380. They will be installed next week.

To make matters worse, I had been looking forward to treating myself to some delicious grilled spare ribs at one of my favourite restaurants for lunch. That would have been a little reward after shopping for my DIY materials.

Unfortunately, all my plans went down the drain because of the unexpected car trouble! Stressed and already very hungry, I eventually settled for a quick meal at a fast-food restaurant. It might not be the grilled feast I had been craving, but at least it satisfied my hunger! Well, some days simply don't go as planned. Hopefully, next week will bring better luck—and no more surprises from my car!

Thank you for reaching this point. I wish you a happy Saturday!
