Eskinita Kitchen, A New Food Place to Bring Family on Weekends

I was wandering around Tacloban City earlier to find a place to have lunch. There are a lot of food places I haven't tried around here since I was away for years in another province here in the Philippines. With Tasteem, I am slowly trying to discover some of them to post here in Steemit.

I just found Eskinita Kitchen. Eskinita means small corner. It's an open-air restaurant by the corner of Gomez Street in Downtown area of Tacloban City.

I got in to check how the place is and there was a good feel to the place. The menu board has a few items which are all Filipino dishes and they are priced fairly low. This restaurant looks like a food court with a few stalls and large capacity tables.

The staff are busy moving, they cook orders on the spot and you can see them preparing all the ingredients, chopping the spices and serving them to customers.

On the menu board, you would see Master Chef being played on the TV. I spotted Gordon Ramsay right over there.

I asked the lady how to order and she said you just choose any of the items in the menu and they cook it for you. Most of the dishes are done in 5 minutes and served to you.

What you would see in their counters are ingredients like beef, pork, fish, seafood, veggies, fruits and many more. You choose them and pick a dish you want for them to cook.

This area has tuna, pork, beef and chicken.

This area has Lapu-lapu, a famous expensive fish in the Philippines. I cannot believe I can buy this for 140 Pesos (52 Pesos = $1 USD). We rarely have this fish because the small ones sell for 500 a kilo in our town. This is amazing!

There's more fish to choose from.

There are fruits, banana and mangoes. They're affordable, too!

In one corner, they have their drinks. For only 20 Pesos you can have a tall glass of Pakwan juice or watermelon juice or a Cranberry iced tea.

I decided to order seafood. The plate of shrimps on the right of the picture is one serving and it only costs 120 Pesos, that's just a little over $2. There's 8 pieces and I thought that was a lot. I don't think I can finish 8 pieces of shrimps. Plus, it comes with free cup of rice. I ordered a glass of cranberry iced tea with it.

The gentleman cooked it for me right away and promised me 5 minutes. I could see all the ingredients from where I'm at. I told him to take his time as I was still going to take pictures of the place.

The place is big and airy. There are a lot of tables and chairs. Tables have 10-seater capacity each. You can definitely bring friends and family. Though it's an open area, it's not hot because of the many fans all over the place.

They have a huge tarpaulin on the wall depicting a comic drawn by a famous Filipino comic artist Larry Alcantara. The masterpiece is entitled, "Food Court."

They have a spot for utensils, spice rack and free purified water.

The place is open and you could see the street from the inside.

The build-up of customers were starting because it was almost 12 noon. That's my blue bag, a backpack and that's where I chose to sit, near the counter.

Finally, my shrimps are cooked and it's just about 5 minutes since I ordered it. I can smell the butter. I don't smell the shrimp smell to it which is amazing.

Here it is with the rice and the cranberry iced tea. I'm ready to eat. I ate right away because there were a lot of people coming in.

Awww. Lovely and yummy. I'm not a fan of shrimps but they did it very well. I was able to finish all of it which was probably the first time I ate that much shrimp. There was definitely no smell of the sea or anything, it was buttery, sweet and I could taste the spices like the garlic and some pepper.

I cannot believe I just paid 140 Pesos for everything because I was too full and definitely enjoyed the meal even if that was just rice and shrimp and a glass of cranberry iced tea.

I'm glad I checked this place out. The verdict is, I will bring my family here this Sunday after church to have lunch. I love the place because the staff are friendly and prompt, it's clean and most of all, very economical. I know the place is kinda new but I hope they maintain their pricing to be this affordable as they continue. I am positive that this place will eventually grow popular. This might become one of our weekend dining destinations as a family.
