I learnt from someone that stepping out of my room is a step to finding my Mr Right, I decided to take the bold step. It's a bold step because I love my room so much and my bed? Super soft!
But I felt I had to leave my comfort zone for better things to happen in my relationship life and I saw myself in a very nice looking and well packaged restaurant. One look at the place, you'd know it isn't a place with cheap meals.
If I should leave my comfort zone to find Mr Right, it has to be at a classic place... Don't you think? So I went there and ordered just water so not to send the wrong impression that I have money 🙄
Where I was seated, there was this couple (on a date) sitting a little close to me... Actually very close because I could even hear their breathe and almost their beating heart so what all they said on that date was no secret to me.
I couldn't help but listened and fill my eyes on how they introduced themselves and began to eat. It was very obvious they were meeting for the first time and the guy seemed way too shy for the date.
Here is snippet of how their conversation went...
The girl: So what do you do for a living?
I smiled because this girl was very sharp, no dulling... She has to know if he has money, it's not about taking her to an expensive restaurant.
The guy: I work at "Oil and drill company" I've been working there for five years now.
What?! I wished he was my Mr Right... So I thought until I heard their next conversation.
The girl: Wow! That is so cool, so what exactly do you there?
The guy: I print works, photocopy stuffs and my Bosses love me for fast deliveries... I get good pay though.
I don't know why I felt the need to go give him a bad look but I remembered it wasn't my date but the lady close to him so I relaxed to hear more.
The lady: Uh, hmmm cool. You must be a really good photocopier 😁
The guy: Yes, you can meet me for any kind of paper printing you would need, I can do it for you free.
The lady: Thanks, so what next? We're done eating.
The guy: I don't know, how about we play a game?
The lady: What kind of game? I love "truth or dare" game, what about you?
The guy: I think we should go for that.
Well, I won't want to tell you all that happened after they agreed to play that game but in less than 30 minutes after the agreement, the lady pulled off her clothes there in the restaurant and the guy jumped round the place like a crazy person for what seem like an hour... Don't ask me what led to that.
While they were going on with their craziness, I decided to look around if there had been any guy looking my way so I could signal my singleness to him. I didn't find any (Maybe I should have wore a more shorter gown) but I found another interesting looking couple.
These two seem like they had been to the restaurant countless times before because of how relaxed and how well they know the place and the servers there. I noticed the facial expression of the two, the guy wasn't looking so bright but the lady was more than happy as if she was expecting something good.
My mind told me immediately that I was about witnessing a proposal even though the guy's face wasn't connecting with my thoughts... Maybe he was just being nervous, so I thought.
A snippet of how their conversation went...
The lady: Babe, have you tried eating your fried chicken with the sauce? It's super delicious, I wish I had know since we started eating here.
The guy: Uhmm no, I haven't. There is something I need to tell you.
The lady: Haha I know! You've gotten the job right? My friend found out about it and told me first... Congrats sweetie.
The guy: Thanks but that's not what I want to tell you.
Okay, at this point I wasn't sitting well on my seat because of how curious I was and how low the guy's voice was... I kept wishing he didn't had to stress me out to hear what he had to say.
The lady: Okay, what is it? I'm all ears
The guy: I think it's time you know I'll be getting married soon and I don't love you anymore.
The lady: Haha you're joking right?! Come on! We made love before coming here, you didn't seem like you don't love me anymore.
The guy: Yeah I know but that's just the truth. I can't be with a lady that doesn't work and think about how to improve her life. You are too lazy and low minded.
So in actual sense and to my surprise, I was witnessing a break up... A very tragic one. But I didn't stop listening as the lady tried to beg him to take back his words. Every other person in the restaurant saw how the guy paid their bills and walked off leaving her in tears.
I sat there watching, feeling confused and wondering if I wanted a guy to notice me or not. I witnessed two dates and the only thing that came to my mind was "I'm not cut out for relationship drama" but I've learnt to be more hardworking and never play the "Truth or dare" game on a first date 😂 I hope you've learnt that too.
I went home to my soft bed with a decision that I would rather stay indoor than have dates like that. Maybe when I visit the supermarket, I will find a date that would inspire me to go in search of a date again... For now, no dating!!!
This is a fictional comedy story I came up with for The COMedy Rumble and I'll like to invite @nkemakonam89
