About five years ago, I got my first job to work as a secretary at a law firm about 30 minutes away from where I stay. Well, the story before I got that job is less interesting but you might want to know that I was super excited to get the job, so excited that I started to imagine myself working there for a long time.
A search for a teaching job led me to a law firm...
I was actually in search of a job at a school to teach kids even though I knew I wasn't as much good as those who were born to teach, then I came across a sign board showing a vacancy of a post of secretary... I decided to apply for it immediately in hopes that I get accepted immediately or rejected and move on regardless.
The interview went well but I couldn't stop looking at how fat the owner of the firm (The lead lawyer) was, he could barely move around his table but his voice sounded like he had too much energy to do just anything. It happened that I wasn't the only who came to apply that morning, I meet a lady there and he questioned the both of together to avoid time wasting and energy (you know).
I got the job and began to work as a secretary for the very first time...
To cut long story short, he employed the both of us saying there were more work to do so one person won't be enough and we agreed on the salary payment. I started work the next day excitedly and got to work very early to paint a good picture of myself, it continued like that though.
My first days at the firm was all about learning new things about how the law works and my work as a secretary, the other lady was an assistant as she wasn't so good with the computers like myself. She would help with the walking around errands while I do all the computer works and giving update to our boss.
My first pay check day was so special for me...
I mean, I had to wear something nice even though it was almost same with what I've been wearing (the law firm had some specific wear they recommended for us to wear). I made my hair and came to work extra early to get the place cleaned up and finish up the leftover work then relaxed to wait for my pay.
And to crown it up, my boss came to work very early that day... A reason for it to being a special day for me. He never comes to work early but that day was different, he gave his reasons though. He was about traveling and decided to stop by, pay our salaries before leaving.
He let us close early from work that day to go enjoy our pay, I felt so happy to have earn that amount for the first time by just sitting around and doing what I love to do (operating computers or pressing my phone haha) I got home and made a nice meal for myself and my mum, she was so happy too.
Well, my first job as a secretary didn't have a happy ending but the start was memorable for me... I'll share my last days as a secretary at that firm in another post soon, you can look forward to it.
For now, this is all about my first job as a secretary at the law firm... What do you think about first jobs?
