I've never made a post with my dad as the focus aside the time I celebrated his birthday with a post here on Hive. But it happened again, something he does all the time happened again and I think I'm going to report him here, just don't tell him I did 😂

In my family, we have the foodies (I think everyone of us is a foodie in my family actually except you want to minus me sometimes) we are also good cooks (especially my dad, you will find that out real soon) and we don't joke with our food time most days.

Getting to prepare a meal that everyone would appreciate you and give you kudos for preparing a nice meal or give you compliment that your meal is delicious... It's like a big achievement in a house where every person is a good cook, I'm sure you get what I mean lol...

My family would always compliment for doing well but won't fail to point out errors if there is any and same goes with the meal you prepare in the house. Before now, I was always scared of preparing meals in the house. Dad was the one always preparing the meal but he has left the responsibility for my sister and I, I had to stop being scared and face it.

Another thing that gave me the confidence to prepare meals for my dad was when I got good compliments from my aunt's family I visited. I didn't do much with the meal but they all loved it and I felt really proud and even over confident that I would be able to give my dad delicious meals.

But that was the beginning of finding ways to make perfect meals, my dad is never satisfied with the taste of my meals 😂 don't get me in the wrong way, I'm not angry at him... I actually find it challenging to do better and maybe I might become a super chef someday because of his endless questions and corrections.

When I say endless questions, my dad will be like...

Did you add onions to this food? How many cubes of Maggi did you use on it? I know there is definitely no crayfish in this food, why did you not add it? I know you hate seeing sliced pepper and onions, at least you should have added the grinded ones, I don't see any in this food, why didn't you add it?

And then he would go on with endless corrections on that same meal, he will be like...

The food is looking too white, add oil next time 😂 where is the fish I bought for this food? Next time, don't pieces it because I want to see it in my food. When do you plan to add the salt and Maggi cubes? Add it now. (This is when he meets me in the kitchen still cooking) 😂

There are so many instances and they all point to the fact that he's way better cook than I am but he seem to be helping me become better too so I try to accept his endless questions. What I'm still against is that he does it only when he's eating the food, it would have been better if he waits till he's done eating or what do you think?

The fact is, he would still eat and most times finish the meal after those questions and corrections so I think I'm on the right path to satisfying his taste buds 😂 but guess what!

My dad gave me compliments some days ago and I couldn't help but feel proud of myself, I think I'm close to perfection in cooking thanks to him. And I also couldn't help but notice that his compliments were way shorter than when he gives correction.

My dad was like... Hmmm I'm enjoying this meal, can I have some of these for work tomorrow?

Phew! You needed to see the grin on my face, I thought I won a jackpot at that point 😂 you won't blame me, I hardly get one of those compliments from him. Don't get me wrong again, others who taste my food knows how good I am so you could say that's just how my dad is... The perfect cook trying to make his daughter one.

I think even till I get married and my dad visits, he will still give me corrections on my prepared meals because it has become an habit for him. Maybe I'll starve him when he visits me 😂 don't beg me, I wouldn't want him embarrassing me in the presence of my husband you know 🤣

I love him that way though, he's an amazing and very interesting father... It's be weird not to get questioned by meals my dad ate so I've got to live with it.

So what about you? Have any experience as such? Or advice for a girl that's trying to be a perfect cook 😁
