A Few Comments Rules - My Collaboration With @sugandhaseth

You sit for hours to think, write, proofread, edit, upload images and publish your post for your audience to read.
You'd expect a comment and you get none, that wouldn't make you feel too good right? Or you don't care? Well, I do care. Every post deserves a comment (a space was provided for that actually). This is where being a good engager and not just a post writer comes to play.
if you engage with others, then only others will engage with you
The truth is, you can't be a good engager and not get engagement on your posts. People are drawn to you if you keep appearing on their posts with your beautiful comments. No effort is lost though, if you still don't get engagement on your posts even as a good engager, just keep doing what you're doing.
Whatever it may be, when minds talk, they exchange information and that brings about a great learning experience
I agree to this totally. Comments aren't just supposed to fill the comment sections, I call them mini posts that also enlightens those who read them. Sometimes I prefer going through the comment section before reading the post. That's after I realized what I could learn from doing that. Now, imagine people stop making comments or just give meaningless comments, there'll be no more enlightenment in the comment section and that would be a problem in that aspect.
If you agree with me that comments are very important, you should also be able to agree with me that there are a few rules that should be guiding how we make comments. I'll share some of them.
Your Comments Should Compliment
It's never easy for an author to come up with a post (that you enjoyed reading), they made some extra effort so giving them compliments will go a long way in replenishing wherever the strength came from to make another post. Even if you found some errors, giving a complimenting sentence "You did well with this post" before pointing out their errors is the right way to make your comment.
Your Comments Should Be Real
Don't be a fake with your comments. Show the author that you read and understand the post through your comment. People fail to read a post but still choose to make a comment and they end up going out of point. Such comments hardly get recognition because most authors could tell when you don't read their posts and it's kind of unfair to them.
Your Comments Should Connect
The aim of every engagement is connection - building your own world in this vast platform and this is for those who see the importance and engage in it. Don't just leave a "Nice write up bro", that's not connecting. Try to see and understand things from the author's perspective and leave a comment that might lead to a conversation (Now, that's connection).
Your Comments Should Be Informal
Don't sound serious all the time, play with words in the comment section, make the author smile when he goes back to read replies. Reply other interesting comments informally, get people into conversation and keep the flow informally. This will surely make the author of that post work even harder on their next post.
I try my best to follow these rules, they aren't too difficult for someone who loves to engage and I hope that I was able to get more people who would do better at commenting while sharing their posts for others to engage on.
