Michael Heath is a friend and Christian brother who USED TO BE the head of Maine's most important Christian organization--The Christian Civic League of Maine. That is until it was undermined by sodomite sympathizers within the churches in Maine who forced his removal about 10 year ago now. Since then, Maine, like the rest of the nation, has been on a downward spiral of continued coddling of evil, and the results of that are everywhere, from the push to normalize pedophilia, bestiality, polygamous marriages, etc., to other backpedaling betrayals of Christian principles in matters of the family, the protection of innocent life, mandatory vaccination, etc.

Mike and his wife Paulie remain avid and active Christian Warriors, and their ministry "Helping Hands" deserves the support of all people who care about life, family, and social issues. Here is an example of Mike's good work, and how the state's second largest newspaper, The Bolshevik Dorogoy Novosti--sometimes known by it's English equivalent "The Bangor Daily News" and the Southern Poverty Law Center described him recently:

Mike has asked me to re-post articles from his blog here on Steemit.com, and I told him I would be glad to do so, as they are witty, well-written, and most importantly poignantly charged with Christian principles and issues surrounding the need for the return of the militant church.

Heal me, O Lord , and I shall be healed; save me, I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. — Jeremiah 17:14

The Pill Rut

Is it possible to not be healed? I’m thinking about this question because I told someone the other day that I would pray for them. They didn’t ask me to pray. They are fine with their condition. They’ve been diagnosed with a condition that is treatable with a drug that they will have to take for the rest of their life. The condition has to do with their mental and emotional state of mind.

This Christian didn’t ask me not to pray. I assume they would prefer not to have to take a pill every day.

I wonder if Jeremiah would have said to God upon this same diagnosis, “Heal me, O Lord.” Had he prayed that would he have followed by declaring, “and I shall be healed.”

We Americans have developed a mindset that expects pills. We don’t endure them. It doesn’t even occur to us that God’s healing should be sought before we settle into the lifetime pill rut. And that the healing we seek should be expected … “I shall be healed.”

These mood altering pills can be quite expensive. That doesn’t change our perception or expectation. It should. Money is a measure of time. We should expect to “spend” our time in a non-drug dependent state of mind.

The letter of James addresses the issue, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

The pill my friend is taking corrects something only pharmaceutical companies are equipped to address. It doesn’t occur to my Christian friend that it would be appropriate to call on the elders for this condition. He is a Christian. He doesn’t think of himself as “sick.” His condition has nothing to do with sin, he thinks.

Is he right to think that way? Sin is often connected with the need for healing in the Bible. Does this apply to the man in the mood altering pill rut? Just askin …

In the verses prior to his admonition to pray for healing the writer of James commands, “Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.”

What will eat your flesh like fire, according to James? The corrosion of hoarded wealth.

I agree with Bernie Sanders and the Left about the wealth gap. This doesn’t make his murder of babies and promotion of sodomy any less evil. It simply means he is right about the glaring wickedness of the West’s perversion of the free market. Americans are too much the beneficiary of this global greed.

We willfully moved our factories to other nations so that we could enjoy plenty without having to labor for it. “Your gold and silver are corroded.”

“Their corrosion will testify against you and EAT YOUR FLESH LIKE FIRE.”

What a fabulous word picture for what Psychiatry has wrought. Psychiatrists don’t exist unless they can alter moods using drugs … unless they be allowed to EAT YOUR FLESH LIKE FIRE with their synthetic flesh oriented chemicals.

And we all know that Psychiatrists don’t come cheap. They have to be among the most well paid of our “physicians.”

“You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence …. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter …..You have condemned and murdered the innocent ONE, who was not opposing you.”

James continues in Chapter 5 to describe how Christians are different from the rich folk who murdered Jesus Christ. The Christian endures suffering and persecution.

James admonishes Christians to “be patient and stand firm,” to be “an example of patience in the face of suffering and to “count blessed those who have persevered.”

Christians are not bereft of consolation in their perseverance and suffering. They trust God, and prayerfully join together in expectation of healing.

I’m going to continue to pray for my friend. I think he wants out of the pill rut, he just doesn’t know it yet. The West’s dependence on supposedly scientific responses to “sickness” is unreasonable. Our ignorance of sin’s reality and effects is indefensible. The Judge of eternity doesn't look kindly on our willful ignorance.

Selah.

August is traditionally a down month for ministry giving. That has been the case with Helping Hands Ministries. Thanks for keeping us in mind for a donation as the Holy Spirit leads you. Paulie and I depart Branson, Missouri this morning heading east. We'll overnight in Nashville, Tennessee tonight. Then home on Tuesday, unless Dorian forces a change in plans. Last I heard the hurricane was coming assure in the Carolinas. Our home is inland, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
