💪My Activity Blog : Local Community and Gardening | Feb 22 2024, Thursday.
Today's activities were exhausting. In the morning, I join the people in our local church to remove the floorboards from an old kindergarten building. The kindergarten was actually constructed using a part of an old church building. Specifically, the stage area of the old church was modified into the kindergarten area. The other part of the old church was divided into partitions that were used as children's Sunday schools. This kindergarten is special for the community here, especially those who have kids ages 5 to 6 years old. Some parents send their kids here not just to learn ABC and 123 but also to learn how to pray as Christians. The local church council is in charge of this kindergarten.
This is the condition of the kindergarten after we remove the floor. So they plan to cement the floor, but not today. Before the floorboard was removed, the condition was very dangerous for people to walk on it. This is as a result of termites eating the floorboard, which has aged and decayed.
Eleven people attended. These were some of them. I am the youngest who attended. You can see the floorboard has been organised, the nail has been removed, and it is waiting to be carried to the safe area
Some of the floorboard and wood that's already decayed overall will either burn today or be separated to be used as firewood in the future. Yes, they still use firewood, especially when the church needs to feed a lot of people and needs a lot of food to be prepared. This firewood will be helpful as free fuel.
Some of the rotten wood has been burned. The zinc you notice in this picture is used to protect the fence from the flames of the burning wood.
After finishing the task of removing the floorboards, we moved to the kindergarten storeroom to do the same job. This task was completed at 12:30 p.m. We then enjoyed fried rice ordered from a nearby restaurant. I returned home around 2:00 in the afternoon. Upon arriving home, I immediately continued working. My first task was to clean two cars. The interiors of the cars were quite dirty and needed vacuuming. Yes, they still use firewood, especially when the church needs to feed a lot of people and needs a lot of food to be prepared. This firewood will be helpful as free fuel.
After finishing cleaning the interiors of the cars, I resumed work in the backyard. This area was filled with wild grass. This area is adjacent to the raised beds where I often plant vegetables.
While busy working on this area, a green caterpillar was seen lying down as if resting or sleeping. I think it's dead, and I was right.
A cute baby grasshopper jumping on my dark brown skin may find my skin yummy to lick. Haha
The area was cleared from the bushes. It took me around 70 minutes to clear this area. It feels so tiring already at this time, but I feel satisfied and fit. So, it's totally worth it.
Our mustard leaf. I hope it will grow healthy.
I hope this chili will also grow healthy and produce enough chili for us.
Wax gourd. This one is easy to grow. It tastes tasty when cooked with chicken soup (or any meat).
Even though I feel very tired, my clothes were wet from sweat and then dried because of the sun, and it repeated again like that with the same clothes three times today. The satisfaction of working so hard keeps me feeling like it's all worth it.
Okay, that's all for today. Have a nice day, all! Thank you.
