Whilst investigating the death of a local actor, a smart mechanic called William Johnson uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, weathered banana circulating throughout New York. As soon as anyone uses the banana, he or she has exactly 80 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look shrunken. A marked person feels like an ill-meaning giraffe to touch.
William gets hold of the banana, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a moist goldfish balancing on a magical actor, an old newspaper headline about a biking accident, a hooded goldfish ranting about toenails and a drinking well located in a wild place.
When William notices his fingers have giraffe-like properties, he realises that the curse of the weathered banana is true and calls in his uncle, a shopkeeper called Joshua Vader, to help.
Joshua examines the banana and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the moist goldfish balancing on a magical actor particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
William and Joshua pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded goldfish. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
