Ode to the Pencil
A Sonnet
by memeon
My strong pencil, you inspire me to write.
How I love the way you call, hop and sneer,
Invading my mind day and through the night,
Always dreaming about the feathered greer.
Let me compare you to a major fly?
You are more textbook, leathered and playful.
Cold drought dries the oldpicnics of July,
And summertime has the tethered trayful.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.
I love your long elbows, smile and humour.
Thinking of your weathered smile fills my days.
My love for you is the lifelong humor.
Now I must away with an active heart,
Remember my wrong words whilst we're apart.
