A friend who's been following Mary Windfiddle's story told me it'd be nice if there was a guide for any person, place or monster Mary and her friends have encountered during their journeys so far.
This is its first part, dedicated to all the people, creatures and monsters our heroes have encountered, up to--and including--Too Close for Comfort - Part 1.
A dwarven cleric from Belfast. Very serious and responsible. Likes to make toys and interesting mechanical things. Sometimes forgets the name of his deity.
A human bard from Pamagos. Grew up in a circus. Likes to drink smoke. Enjoys the intimate company of all genders and species. Nearly dies a lot, but is otherwise very lucky.
A merchant from Pamagos looking for an asylym from the heated political
situation between Pamagos and Myth Adofhaer. Hired Mary, Bruno and Aurum as escort for him and his family from Pamagos to Myth Adofhaer where he intended to settle in.
Another adventurer hired by lord Dwendel to escort him from Pamagos to Myth Adofhaer. Brash and self-centered, likes to brag about his successes (or successes that he thinks are his).
A duergar Mary and her companions met in their first mission together. He was upset because their leader had killed his brother. Our adventurers spared his life and let him go.
Lord Dwendel's missing daughter. Last seen six years ago in Pamagos. Known to be kind and merciful. Had merits with the elves because of which her family was allowed in Myth Adofhaer.
The messenger guild in Eastern Erathos. Able to magically find the recipients for the messages sent through them. Patroned by the goddess of knowledge Ioun.
An elf scientist (dead). Used to do experiments with plants, tried to give them consciousness in order for them to be able to protect themselves. Presumably killed by one of his own test subjects- a living tree.
The last Emperor of Erathos. Died about 48 years ago in dubious circumstances. Due to the details around his death never being revealed, in certain circles he's thought to have been murdured by his wife Cremena.
The half-elven wife of Ignas II. Some people think she's killed her husband 48 years ago. Lives in Myth Adofhaer and is under its protection. The elves are aiming to put her on her late husband's throne.
Ignas II's grandson, 14 years old. Lives in Zerakas tol and is under its protection. People who know him say he's just like his grandfather. Zerakas tol is aiming to put him on Ignas' throne to unite the Empire once again.
Bruno and Paulina's brother. Disappeared in the tunnels beneath Belfast, along with a group of dwarven loggers. Known to be a tunnel safety specialist.
A giant made of stone. Leads the Duergar. Has sent an ultimatum to Belfast to either give his people access to their mines, or be destroyed by his army.
Dwarven loggers, captured by the duergar during the fight in the goblin cavern. After being imprisoned, they were being taken to 'the brains' (presumably to be offered as a sacrifice of some sort). Saved by Mary and her friends in their first fight with a Roper.
A Loxodon (elephant-headed person). A legendary figure, famous for leading the defence of Kipsos pass in year 918. Had magical bells that looked the same as the one Aurum has.
Undead creatures. Grey skin, not very intelligent. Known for their bite which infects people with ‘ghoul fever’ – an illness which soon kills its victims and turns them into ghouls as well.
Sent by Mary's Patron to 'guard' the sleeping Bruno while she and Aurum went on a solo mission. Always angry. Has a toothpick-sized sword and WILL stab you!
Good day! The mushroom people who inhabit the cavern adjacent to Sylvanas’ laboratory. Were friends with the elf and mourn his death. One of them calls itself ‘Mr. Fungus’.
Also known as ‘a land shark’. A heavily armoured creature which burrows deep underground and eats anything that it comes in contact with. Not very intelligent but deadly.
Small green skinned creatures. Can be good, can be bad. We know of two tribes living in the Upper Dark – The Ravens and The River Folk. Viyra and Kiyra are from the latter.
A very dangerous creature, likes to eat flesh. When sleeping, can be mistaken with a column or stalactite/stalagmite. When awoken, forms an eye, a mouth full of sharp teeth and several tentacles with which it can move and catch its prey.
The Fearsome Threesome, characters from a fairytale Mary and Aurum knew from childhood. Also, Mary’s favourite origami familiars. Atti is an owl, Aingels is a tressym (a flying cat) and Rudhol is an almiraj (a bunny with a horn on its forehead).
Also known as ‘the Thing Under the Bridge’. Babbles incoherently when people are close by and, if it’s awakened, screams with a thousand voices and compels its victims to jump into his embrace.
Bruno’s deity! God of blacksmiths and crafters. Known to have given the world its form and forged the first dwarves. Values proactivity, valour and honest labor.
Mary worships her! Goddess of knowledge and prophecy. She created language and writing so that information can be shared among the mortals. Known to have given pegasi to the first Bearers to allow them to deliver their messages around the world.
