Rose-breasted Grosbeak
male
female
Both parents feed the nestlings, who remain in the nest for 9-12 days after hatching. They have 1-2 broods per year, and often the dad cares for the youngsters alone while the mom goes off and builds a new nest.
Baltimore Oriole and Rose-breasted Grosbeak
The Orchard Orioles are smaller than the more brightly colored Baltimore Orioles are. Both orioles eat mainly insects, but they all stop by for a sweet snack of grape jelly from the feeder by my window.

They are quite shy and it has been difficult getting photos of them.
Downy Woodpecker
female

With wings spread to try to look bigger and scarier and keep the starlings away from the feeder.
And as I was putting this post together an Indigo Bunting stopped by for a few minutes before he continued on his way.
Indigo Bunting

I didn't see a female, but they are plain little brown birds. These guys migrate as far as South America during the winter and cross the Gulf of Mexico at night using the stars for navigation.
I'm looking forward to seeing which birds you have seen this week!
