This is the time of year that Eastern gray squirrels forage for nuts and seeds, and often bury their food to dig up later. . They play an important role in seed dispersal, when they forget where they buried their nut, and it sprouts and grows into a tree
Here in Wisconsin there are Gray squirrels, Flying squirrels, Fox squirrels, American red squirrels, Thirteen-lined ground squirrels, but the Gray squirrels are the most common in my backyard.
It's easier to see them and take photos now that autumn has arrived and most of the leaves are falling off the trees.
The look on this squirrels face seems to say that he thinks photographers are a rude bunch!
