Good morning Feathered friends I hope you have been well. Today was a glorious morning, it's very hot over 40 degrees Celsius and we were presented with someone I have been wanting to share with you for some time, Bunjil the Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle and creator of the Kulin Nations, a clan of Indigenous Australians that span of Melbourne and outter areas.

I've recently moved homes to a little further out in Melbourne's West which is still open paddocks and undeveloped. There are Kangaroos, wallabies, marsupials, kites and Wedge Tailed Eagles. Unfortunately my phone camera isn't that good especially when zooming in to its maximum. I knew this was Bunjil due to his attitude and wing span.

But fortunately I have a membership to Canva which has premium stock images which I pay for and I can share with you some close up Images.

First a bit of information about the Australian Wedged Tail Eagle.

The Wedged tail eagle is just over 1m tall with a wingspan of 3m and its legs are referred to as booted due to the muscled legs with feathers. The Wedged Tail Eagle can reach weights of upto 6kgs with males slightly smaller than females.

The Wedged Tail Eagle is the largest Eagle on the planet and its wingspan amongst the largest of its kind. A unique bird of power and prestige. The Wedged Tail Eagle spends most its time soaring and gliding without effort or even flapping its wings. It soars at 6000ft above ground.

It's vision unimpaired as the Wedged Tail Eagles vision is made of ultraviolet light and can see far beyond into the distance.

The Wedged Tail Eagle is found throughout Australia mainly in open fields and savannahs. Nesting is done perched high in tall trees. Often close to water sources and both parents play an active role in nesting and feeding young.

The Australian wedged tail eagle is know to attack and kill wallabies, kangaroos, mice, snakes and even the odd cat and dog if it stumbles across its territory.

They are also known to pick up burning sticks or hot coals and drop them into grass lands to cause bush fires that force pray out into the open where they can glide in and collect their dinner.

They are also opportunistic and will feast on road kill especially on the open roads in the outback where food can be scarce, who doesn't like a free feed?

Bunjil

Bunjil is known as the creator God, as he soard above he decided that there needed to be more and in his trails he created the sea, the land, the mountains, the trees and than people.

In early times people fought aomgst themselves so Bunjil created lore for people to live by. With a main focus on respecting each other and country. A strong bond was formed where people and country live in harmony.

There were times of hardship when arguments would break out and Bunjil would raise the sea levels, dry out the land or cause fire to always show he was watching.

I think Bunjil requires his own post so I will save some stories for future posts.
