So here we are, the big 1st birthday and oh my how fast it has gone. All within a blink of an eye and all during lockdown too. I feel some what robbed of this first year due to lock down but all so special too being able to be here everyday without fail. My son has gotten to know me more than what my daughter did. That's not saying I haven't grown stronger and closer to my daughter through lock down either. It has been wonderful to have been given this time even if things will commence getting back to normal once we are through this pandemic.
There's something really special about first birthdays there are a few things that I've come to realise that first birthdays are probably more a celebration as a parent you've made it through the first year raising a child. The first year is the most challenging no matter how many kids you have had. Lack of sleep, constant feeding, endless cleaning oh the list goes on and on. So once you make it to the first year you're excited that you're at this point.
Also the one year mark for the little ones are an exciting time, they're starting to really absorb the world around them and are more awake ij the world. Much of it is in confusion and they don't know what's happening. There are people, there is singing and most importantly for them there us colourful cake! All that sugary goodness ❤
It's great to start seeing the kids open up to the world and explore their surroundings and their first birthday is a great milestone. Pretty much all birthdays after this one they will be more onto what a birthday is. I remember little miss was so scared of birthdays at one stage and hated when we sang happy Birthday. Would cry at the sound of the first Haaaaapppy. Now she is always front and centre trying to blow out everyone's candles and open their presents 🤣
We still have reduced capacity visitors due to lock downs and not many people are allowed to visit but we still were able to have a few people over which was nice. It wasn't the big 1st year birthday party as Lil Miss had but it was still nice. I remember the first birthday for lil miss, was mainly just friends around and that's all as I am the oldest in my family and the first to have a child.
Another exciting thing to announce is that my sister was pregnant, a big part there being was. She had her baby girl today on the same day as lil bloke! How amazing that two cousins are born on the same day!
What's more exciting is that all 3 kids are born on the 3rd of a month!
At least now I will always have an excuse to cut lil blokes birthday short "Oh I need to run off to my nieces birthday party".
