Good day 
We've been plunged into another lockdown due to 1 returned traveller, I'm quite upset about this one. We're in the midst of a pandemic and we're all supposed to do the right thing. Well, we had 1 person return with COVID and decided to pretty much travel ALL around Victoria (an entire state) and cause something like 170 grade 1 infection zones.
Seriously, people can't just limit their travelling to keep everyone safe. Also with a failed Federal government our Prims Minister disappeared in Aussie bush fires and didn't make any movements on vaccines.
But today we've stumbled across something really awesome, I'm pretty big on community amenities that's all things that can be used by a community. Lil Miss and I have stumbled across something amazing, a mini bike race track with two lanes.
Just along the Kororoit Creek trail one of Melbourne's longest creek systems starting at peaks Mountains or more so some hills and travels for over 50kms to the bay in the CBD is this wonderful fully paved, planted and marked mini kids track.
Fitted with its own 10km speed limit, road markings, give way signs it is the perfect location to bring the kids along to learn about road rules and even get into a bit of a race.
Parts of the track encompass wetlands and lots of native shrub which create the perfect environment for native birds and wild life. Talking to one of the regulars they inform me other than swamp hens and pelicans if you come early there are kangaroos and wallabies that come down for a drink and a feed. They also use the track to run around and it's about 500m in total.
The entry to the kids race way is marked by two Swans flying high on poles made of steel painted to look rusted, perhaps symbolic of the freedom of flight as you zoom around the track. Most of the track has good visibility but I'd recommend taking a safety lap first to ensure there aren't any smaller kids or walkers. I almost got into a spot of bother as I came around a bend only to find 3 people all side by side taking up the whole path, both lanes.
I will never understand why people do this, take up the entire path of a shared path, well this one isn't shared it's solely for bikes so being on foot and taking up both incoming and oncoming traffic lanes is dangerous. 10kms on a bike is a decent speed and if you get whacked by 150kgs (My bike, me and my kid) you're probably going to the ER.
A fair bit of work has gone into making this track not only level, function well and serve its purpose but also look the goods. With stone pillars and art work located all along the track making it a really appealing ride.
You do need to be a little conscious of oncoming traffic as there are on ramps and lane mergers so I wouldn't go too hard but I rekon I found the next location to host lil miss' 5th birthday.
I can't wait to bring along the BBQ for a sausage sizzle and race with all her friends. Lil Miss really enjoyed the Kiddies Race Way and most of all it is free!
We'll be back with her bike during the week for some high octane pedal to the metal race way fun. Mumma bear can come along and she can be the pit girl 馃ぃ
