Ever since I was a kid I've always loved the colour blue, it's the one colour I gravitate to no matter what and I'm not sure if it's been hard wired into me that blue is for boys that did it or if I actually have a sense of connection with the colour.
For me, it reminds me of calmness, sitting along a beach watching the waves and seeing a deep blue or turquoise bay. The kind that you can see the bottom of the ocean floor and all the sea life with it.
The home we are building has subtle light blues throughout and out exterior has a dark Navy blue section that blends in with a warmer cream colour. I went for a kind of hamptons feel.
The view from outside one of the windows will overlook a lake and wetlands that will reflect a beautiful blue and provide a tranquil atmosphere. Although there is not much here at current one day this town will build up to house a lot more people and a larger community.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to afford to live closer to the city as housing prices are sky-rocketing and affordability is dwindling. But I like where we are building it is peaceful, for now.
Not too long ago my wife and I attended a friend's wedding and my wife wore a beautiful blue dress, my jaw instantly hit the floor and I was once again star struck by her beauty. Although she doesn't need to wear blue for me to feel that way as it happens quite often.
But the blue gave an added lift and brought out all her features that I love the most about her.
Perhaps my love affair with the colour blue derives from the spring sky as we break away from Winter October tends to bring some of the most beautiful deep blue skies as the clouds part, the weather warms and it's off to the coast and many beaches we go.
Or perhaps it's that crisp cool air you smell as summer approaches the kind that begins to warm the trees and the smell of eucalyptus emerges. A sign that Mother nature is waking up for another year.
The feeling of comfort, of happiness of sadness and coldness leaving your body as the sky shines a bright blue. The kind that gives you a gentle but enlightened feeling as the suns rays wash away the year that was.
For me, blue encompasses everything in life and it is such a beautiful colour.
