My oh my oh my what a month it has been! You might recall recently I shared with you how Bella suffered a vaginal prolapse and my most recent update after that was her vet check up where everything was going well, and it was. Well that was until they removed her stitches.
A week after her check up which I raised concerns about as there was a significant bulge on her backend the vet assured me that she had recovered and would be all good. So they pulled the stitches out and removed her cone of shame and we returned back home.
The only problem was that an hour later she was back to prolapsing but a lot worse with significant blood from her vagina. I rusher her back into the vet and the performed emergency surgery to stitch her all together.
We returned home and waited the two week period but things got worse again as we approached the two week period with stitched still in place and her cone she prolapsed again.
This time with heavy bleeding so I rushed her to another vet instead where I knew the owner and he came out to look at her. After a quick inspection and addressing Bella's immediate needs. He said I needed to take her back to the original place as this should never had happened.
Bella in fact needed an entire hysterectomy but because it was Easter Saturday the vet most likely would not have wanted to perform the surgery and the days that she prolapsed it was in the evening so they were most likely putting it off.
We rushed to the vet and disputed what they had done and what we had been told to which they did not dispute it and admitted to not conducting the surgery because they had been booked out and those days I arrived they do not do the surgery that was needed.
At this stage it was late at night and they wanted me to come back tomorrow and I had had enough after a month of what my poor mate had been going through and demanded they fix the problem for once and for all as I had already spent $5000 on two surgeries which, I now learned were not the right ones.
They conceded and called down the head vet and he performed surgery on Bella.
It has been two weeks since and she has finally recovered and we have removed her cone with no bulge in sight and no more prolapses! She a little smelly and dirty as she hasn't been able to have a bath in a month due to being constantly operated on and not wanting to damage the area while healing. But she is doing a lot better!
She is a little tired and worn down from all the vet visits but she is mending perfectly! I was almost going to put her down which I was devastated about but the thought of her living her remaining years in a cone and suffering constant Vaginal prolapses was too much for me and would have been too much for her.
I am so upset that the vet didn't do the surgery on her the first time it would have saved us a lot of trauma and financial damage, but it is what it is and we are all doing well now!
