Finally a new wet lands have been developed in the area that acts as a water catchment and natural filtration system utilsing a system of pools and water diversion prior to entering the main waterways. Much of the area had been fenced off previously while construction and tree planting was underway.
The wet lands have finally been completed and the temp fencing has been removed and many of the trees and planted reeds have taken hold. The wetlands have been home to frogs and smaller birds but more recently some of our favorite feathered friends have arrived, Black Swans. The magestic animals are familiar with humans and have become quite dependent on us for feeding.
I am not sure if wild birds can eat bread as a lot of people say not to feed them bread so we decided to feed them worms which I wasn't all that sure they would eat but alas they gobbled them up like no tomorrow.
Coming right upto the banks and upto us they were not scared and enjoyed our company and the meal we provided them, thankful no doubt as these wetlands are still new there wouldn't be many cray fish or other delights they tend to feed on and with the grassland low not much would be availble for them to get their fill.
Stay tuned as we share their adventures with you and as we approach nesting season no doubt, we will get to watch some nest building, egg laying and birth of some new baby swans!
