While some students are still enjoying their summer break, savoring the taste of academic stress-free days—giving themselves the relaxation that they needed and deserve, our school school, on the other hand, already put an end to that by opening our classes ahead compared to other schools.
Hello again! I am Melancholy Danielle, a current tired, restless grade 12 student of University of St. La Salle. And I love the idea of having a hectic schedule which is why I join in orgs with the most work to do. The thing that I love about our school, it offers a lot of orgs, may it be service clubs, subject related clubs, and talents clubs which are really so active. I am part of the publication and the Red Cross Youth club.
On our first day of school, we were obliged to attend an orientation which is basically divided into three parts: Welcoming Segment, Students and Parents’ Orientation, and Strand and Tracks Welcoming program. But even before the program started, I grabbed a coffee and a donut inside our school since I wasn’t able to eat my breakfast at our house. If you take the public transport, it roughly takes two (2) hours to get from our house to school, which means that I have to wake up extra early in order not to be late at school.
The welcoming segment are composed of introduction of faculties, sorting of house, and introducing the Grade 11 students to the clubs and orgs that they might be interested in joining, something that we never experienced during our grade 11 since it was still during the pandemic and we are still under the online modality program.
After the morning program, since I am a student journalist, we gave a copy of our latest tabloid to students which challenged my extrovert personality. I have to actually approach and excuse myself to all students just so I can give out a tabloid.
After that, my friends decided to eat our lunch at McDonalds which is celebrating their soft opening. It wasn’t really the first time that it opened though, but it was newly renovated so I guess they chose to celebrate it. We also received a coupon of free medium fries that we can receive anytime we want. As someone who loves eating something sweet after a meal, icecream is a must. Unfortunately, they didn’t have sundae at that time, so we chose to buy ice cream at the store nearby.
The afternoon program was a joint Parents and Students’ Orientation. It wasn’t really fun though, they just discussed how our grading system works. I didn’t actually listen to that part of the program. (who does tho?)
The last part of the program was organized by the student government specifically for grade 11 students. It is composed of a Strand and track welcoming program which includes a variety of games related to their chosen strands. And since I am part of the school publication, I was assigned to cover the event of the Arts and Design Track and write a news lead for it (oh i love publication works so much).
And that all happens in one day! I guess, this is the start of a restless me.
