Witch Watch is for me one of the biggest surprises of this year – anime Light, full of humor, and at the same time warm and charming in such a way that it's hard not to smile from the first episode to the last.

The plot seems simple – Nico, a young witch, moves into the home of her childhood friend, Morihito, who is the ogre and her bodyguard from the prophecy. Against this background, daily school vicissitudes, spells that get out of control and a whole lot of comic situations begin. And you know what? It works perfectly. Each episode is a new "disaster", through which Nico tries to shine as a witch, but it ends with the laughter of the audience and a slight headache Morihito.

What captivated me the most was how the anime balances between absurd gags and sincere warmth. This is not just a gag comedy – although there are plenty of gags – but a story about relationship, friendship and growing up. I often laughed myself to tears, because the humor can be very physical and exaggerated (typical anime "gags"), but then you get a scene where you really feel the connection between the characters. And that's what gives Witch Watch an edge over many other comedies – it's not only funny, it's also charming, like wholesome anime!

The characters are the heart of the whole story. Nico is energy in its purest form. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and at the same time she is so human in her fits that it is hard not to like her. Morihito is the complete opposite - serious, calm, sometimes stiff - but that's what makes the duo so much fun. And then there are the colorful characters: tengu Kanshi, The Werewolf Keigo and The Vampire Miharu - everyone brings something of their own, so this story never gets bored. It's a bit like watching a family sitcom, only conquered by magic and folklore.

Many fans say that Witch Watch is the funniest anime of the season and it's hard for me to disagree with that. But laughter isn't everything - there's also charm, a little magic, and a subtle note of romance that slowly, episode by episode, takes on meaning. Opening " Watch Me!" from Yoasobi perfectly emphasizes this climate-joyful, youthful and full of freshness, fits the energy of the entire series.

The line is colorful, dynamic, and at the same time can be surprisingly inventive. The scenes with Nico's spells, which get out of control, have a lightness and creativity in them – to feel that the creators had fun while animating them. It may not be a technical masterpiece, but the style fits perfectly with the character of the story - comedic, joyful and a little chaotic.

Witch Watch is an anime that pretends to be nothing more than it is – it's meant to entertain and thrill, and it does it perfectly. This is a great suggestion to improve the mood after a hard day, and at the same time gives the feeling that we are watching a group of characters who really like each other and want to be with each other. If you are looking for a series that will cause a smile and a little "cut off" you from the seriousness of everyday life - this is a shot in the arm.
