Beginners guide to Axie Infinity
Axie Infinity is a
Pokémon-inspired universe where anyone can earn tokens through skilled gameplay
and contributions to the ecosystem. Players can battle, collect, raise, and
build a land-based kingdom for their pets like creatures known as
“Axies.”
Axie Infinity is a blockchain-based computer game that has recently
dominated the non-fungible token (NFT) market.
Axies
Axies are your
virtual pets in the game. Axies have different attributes, one of which is the
Axie’s base class. There are 9 different Axie classes:
- Plant
- Reptile
- Dusk
- Beast
- Bug
- Mech
- Aqua
- Bird
- Dawn
Each Axie class
has different strengths and weaknesses, and usually determines the Axie’s role
in the team.
As well as six body parts: eyes, ears, horn, mouth, back, and tail. When
buying your first Axie, the horn, mouth, back and tail are most important as
these determine which cards your Axie can use in a battle.
Axie Stats
Aside from their
base class, Axies also have four stat attributes:

Health — the
Axie’s HP, or the amount of damage it can take before getting knocked out

Speed —
determines turn order, Axies with higher Speeds attack first
·
Skill —
increases damage dealt when the Axie performs multiple cards/moves (a.k.a.
combo)
·
Morale —
increases chance to land a critical hit, as well as entering “last stand” which
allows them to attack a few more times before getting knocked out
Axie Abilities/Cards
Lastly, Axies have 4 different abilities or moves that
they can use during battle. These are represented by Cards.
There are a total of 132 abilities/cards in the game.

Items
Land Items can be put onto Land to enhance
your Axie’s abilities. Each of these items have their own rarity levels —
Common, Rare, Epic, Mystic — and type — Savannah, Forest, Arctic, Mystic.
Land
Lunacia is the Axie homeland, with 90,601
NFT plots. Although the land gameplay aspect of the game is still in development, many are betting
on it being valuable. Resources like AXS tokens will spawn on land, and there may be
other resources which can be used to upgrade the land and Axies alike.

- Genesis
