Pain can come from anywhere.. Whether be it from people, or things..
Cutters cut because well, unlike certian things that happen in their life that are bad, big or small, you can't pick and choose what life throws at you. We cut because we can controll our pain. If it hurts, stop. If it's not quite enough of a rush, cut deeper. When we're stressed, we do it. When we're scared, or angry, or sad, we will cut. It's a lot easier to grab something sharp, or pointy, it doesn't have to be a damn knife, rather than throw our life away over something that will end up just being the past. Scars fade away as time passes.. But if it's deep enough, it'll stay there forever.
Before you judge someone emo or scene or, what ever else your stupid mind can think of.. Think of this first: Does it really matter to me what this person chooses to do? The answer should be No. You're not living their life, so fuck off.. If they like what they're doing, more power to them. If the person gets looked down upon, but they still do what they like to do, and don't give a fuck what the haters say, it's purely amazing.
Don't be a hater. It just means you're a jealous, snotty, perked up bitch, who wants the world to revolve around themselves. Don't like what someone's doing? Leave them the fuck alone, and don't jump into their business like you're their life's secretay or something. You've no idea what hides behind the actions and words this person is saying or doing. You don't know their whole life story, so stop acting like you do. Grow the fuck up and learn to keep your fucking mouth closed when you only know a small part of the story.
NOTE: This is another heated piece of mine I wrote in 2012. I quit cutting around 2014 because I was tired of making up excusses like "oh, that was just the cat" or "I got scraped while in the pool". I also didn't want to deal with covering up my arms all the time, in fear someone would comment or look at me or judge me differently (I already am an outcast, so I didn't want to become more of a target). Never, however, were my cuts so deep that I can still see them today, I have no scars.

Unfortunatley on the other hand, I have throughout the years picked up a new form of causing myself pain. It's become more dominant lately and I can't control it any longer once the urge rushes through me. I'm pretty certain it's a type of tic disorder. In the heat of whatever moment, mostly when I'm stressed or upset or angry (which has been the "true me" the last 2 months) I whack my hand(s) against my head or forehead or sometimes I need to repeat the same movement over and over again before I feel it was "just right" or it hit that "sweet spot" I was aiming for. I am not proud of this reliever and I am also scared, and scared of myself sometimes, that this new "thing" has stuck and won't go away.
But hey, it's better than cutting, right? Though to be perfectly honest, I would prefer the cuts...
