Have you ever been to Venice, Italy? It is a city I definitely recommend! I will be posting a full itinerary soon, but for now I just want to pass you the atmosphere of Venice. I have been there several times, always taking pictures including the one you see here. Regardless of the season, Venice is an unchangeable city - and that's its beauty! [Ok, besides the fact that it's sinking year by year :( ] As described in different books and paintings, the beauty of ugliness is the strongest point of Venice - even the 'objectively' ugly parts of it, have an unexplained charm which makes you want to visit again and again and again. Of course the Carnival is the most magical time of the year to be in Venice, even though way too crowed -for my taste at least. Venice is not only charming, but definitely very romantic, mellow, like a true painting. Because of the canals, it's like time never touches that part of Italy. Center of Art with the Biennale of Venice [ http://www.labiennale.org/en/Home.html ], inaugurated in 1895, being still one of the 'it' art events in Europe every two years. I know that Paris has probably the first place in romance but I always thought of Venice as one of the most romantic cities in the world, if not the most romantic by far. The diversity of Venice is incomparable and that's what makes it unique!
