My Advice for anyone just starting on the steem platform is this:
when you start writing you wont get much response. Don't let that down-hearten you. Keep working and you will slowly start to raise your profile, provided you keep producing new and relatively interesting content.
Don't just spam whatever in the hope of getting upvotes . That kind of thing might work for well established people with a lot of followers but it wont do you any favours as a newbie.
Find a niche and try and build a bit of a following based on that. If someone follows you for writing an article about something chances are they are hoping to see more of the same.
Try and join a guild or group this will help with your followers as you will start to make connections with people. There are loads of discord channels for various different niches and groups so get involved.
Learn everything you can about the actual process of writing on steem. how to make headlines, underlines, import pictures etc and the use it to the best of your ability to make your articles look as 'finished' as possible.
If people support you make sure to show your appreciation. Nobody wants to waste their time on an ungrateful person.
If people comment on your posts the VERY least you can do is upvote but preferably you should comment back. even if it's just to say thanks for your support.
People seem to respond to passion so write about something you are really passionate about and it will show and people will relate better to your content
Im relatively new myself and I am slowly slowly building my feedback and support but you have to keep working. post regularly and feedback and comment on others work too. this is absolutely th best way to get followers. read their content and make a comment that shows you have read and enjoyed their work.
I hope this helps a bit. Like i said i pretty new myself but this has been working for me so far. Keep working, keep producing and dont get disheartened if you dont get many up-votes to start with
