I manufacture mainly children's decorative elements from recycling and reuse, especially cardboard and paper. They are personalized works, I love to create for the little ones at home.

Les traigo algo sencillo, como es la primera vez, escogí este trabajo para ir aprendiendo a explicarles claramente y puedan seguir mi paso a paso.
Haremos una letra E mayúscula que es la inicial del nombre de la niña que inspiró este proyecto. Es la nieta de una amiga de mi mamá que cumple su primer añito y quiere dársela como presente de cumpleaños.
Sin más preámbulo les dejo mi primer tutorial. Traté de hacer lo mejor posible, eso sí, con mucho cariño para todos.
I bring you something simple, as it is the first time, I chose this work to learn how to explain clearly and you can follow my step by step.
We will make a capital letter E, which is the initial of the name of the little girl who inspired this project. She is the granddaughter of a friend of my mom's who is turning one year old and she wants to give it to her as a birthday present.
Without further ado, here is my first tutorial. I tried to do my best, but with love for everyone.
Aquí la lista de materiales que necesitaremos:
- Cartón corrugado grueso que mida 25 x 30 cm o más.
- Pegamento (cola blanca)
- Papel (reutilizado)
- Material para forrar el cartón (papel artesanal, papel texturizado, fomi, fieltro, tela u otro)
- Molde (letra E que quepa en el recorte de cartón, mi molde mide 25 cm de altura)
- Lápiz
- Regla
- Cúter(una cuchilla y uno de presición)
- Tijera
- Pinturas acrílicas (blanco, rosa claro y gris)
- Barniz acrílico
- Pinceles y pinceleta
Here is the list of materials we will need:
- Thick corrugated cardboard measuring 25 x 30 cm or more.
- Glue (white glue)
- Paper (reused)
- Material to line the cardboard (craft paper, textured paper, fomi, felt, fabric or other).
- Mold (letter E that fits in the cardboard cutout, my mold measures 25 cm high)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Cutter (one blade and one precision cutter)
- Scissors
- Acrylic paints (white, light pink and gray)
- Acrylic varnish
- Brushes and paintbrush
Con todos los materiales listos, comenzamos:
Primeramente tomamos el pedazo de cartón seleccionado y lo forramos por detrás con papel reutilizado. Posteriormente lo forramos por delante con el material escogido. Yo utilizaré papel artesanal (en otro post les mostraré su proceso de elaboración). En ambos casos bastará con distribuir con la pinceleta una capa uniforme de cola blanca para adherir los papeles. Si ustedes escogieron otro material quizás tengan que utilizar un pegamento diferente.
With all the materials ready, we begin:
First we take the selected piece of cardboard and line it on the back with reused paper. Then we line it on the front with the chosen material. I will use handmade paper (in another post I will show you how to make it). In both cases it will be enough to distribute with the brush a uniform layer of white glue to adhere the papers. If you chose another material you may have to use a different glue.
Ya forrado y seco el cartón, procedemos a marcar utilizando nuestro molde previamente seleccionado. Yo hago los míos, los realizo en la computadora, imprimo y recorto. También pueden dibujarlo si sus habilidades se lo permiten o usar plantillas que se venden con ese fin.
Ahora, a calar!!! Utilizaremos un cúter de precisión (exacto) o mango con cuchilla 11 (no se como lo llama cada cual en su país). Los invito a que me digan en los comentarios, para seguir aprendiendo 😉.
Once the cardboard is lined and dry, we proceed to mark using our previously selected mold. I make my own, make them on the computer, print and cut them out. You can also draw it if your skills allow it or use templates that are sold for that purpose.
Now, to fretwork!!! We will use a precision cutter (exact) or 11 blade handle (I don't know what they call it in your country). I invite you to tell me in the comments, to continue learning 😉.
Después de calada la letra toca la hora de cubrir los bordes expuestos del cartón. En mi caso lo haré con tiras de papel artesanal como el que utilicé para forrarlo por delante. Utilizando un cúter (o cuchilla) y una regla, cortamos tiras del ancho del borde de la letra. Ustedes pueden utilizar el mismo material que hayan escogido o combinarlo con otro que sea mejor para esta finalidad.
After the letter has been cut, it's time to cover the exposed edges of the cardboard. In my case I will do it with strips of craft paper like the one I used to line the front. Using a box cutter and a ruler, we cut strips the width of the edge of the letter. You can use the same material you have chosen or combine it with another that is better for this purpose.
Solo nos resta pintarla y decorarla como queramos. La pueden hacer como les muestro o echar a volar su imaginación y creatividad, no se limiten. La pintarrmos de color blanco y le haremos unas rayas rosadas y grises. Recortaremos unas estrellas pequeñas para pintar con los mismos colores. Las distribuímos como nos guste sobre la letra y pegaremos. Finalmente aplicaremos con un pincel una capa de barniz para su acabado y protección.
We just need to paint it and decorate it as we wish. You can do it as I show you or let your imagination and creativity fly, do not limit yourselves. We will paint it white and make some pink and gray stripes. We will cut out some small stars to paint with the same colors. We distribute them as we like on the letter and glue. Finally we will apply with a brush a coat of varnish for finishing and protection.

La letra puede ir apoyada en la pared, en una repisa, o pegada en cualquier soporte(pared, puerta, etc) para eso solo tenemos que agregarle por el reverso unos pedazos de cinta doble cara o doble contacto (otra cosa que puede tener otros nombres en sus países 🤭).

The letter can be leaned on the wall, on a shelf, or glued on any support (wall, door, etc) for that we only have to add on the back a few pieces of double-sided tape or double contact (another thing that may have other names in your countries 🤭).
