Hello to everyone here. I haven't posted in this community for a while, but I want to share with you this experience that I enjoyed so much.
My life is quite sedentary. My job forces me to sit for many hours. Lack of will, tiredness and even laziness make up the other part of my inactivity.
The daily routine imposes its monotony and I simply let myself be subdued. So for my birthday celebration I decided to go out of town for 2 days, away from everything.
We went to a paradisiacal place in the mountains, I have already published other posts about it. But this experience that I tell you today, was a personal challenge that I wanted to do just the day I turned 46 years old.
I love nature, I grew up surrounded by it and in direct contact with its goodness. To be in places like these is to go back in time, to connect with the origins. The smells, the climate, everything is very similar to the place where I grew up.
In Soroa, the place where we went, there is a viewpoint on top of a mountain 370m above sea level, "El Mogote'. The trail that leads to the top is 2 km long. The climb is not very complicated, for someone with training it is literally a walk. For my daughter, husband and me, it was a challenge 😂, without physical training and also against the clock. The idea was to get to the top before sunset and it was quite late when we undertook the adventure.
The trail was perfectly marked, many people have left their footprints there. The path was a bit difficult for us. The loose rocks, the dust and the steepness of the trail made us step on the wrong foot.
We had to stop several times to rest. Luckily there was no heat, even so the effort caused the need to drink water constantly and we even had to eat some fruit to replenish energy.
Approximately 1 hour later and quite a few steps, we reached our destination. The last stretch tested our endurance. A long staircase leads to the top. I couldn't tell you the number of steps, we were so focused on climbing that we didn't count them, no doubt it was much more than 100.
It was my birthday, I had made it up and the feeling of being in that place was the best gift of the day.
Everything was so magnificent up there that reality, the daily problems, the city, the people, the noise, the pollution, became tiny, distant, almost disappeared.
The time we were there was like a trance. As if we had come out of our own bodies and were observing ourselves from above. We were in that place where we did not belong, but from which we did not want to leave.
We remained in silence listening to the sound of nature, breathing that air, enjoying the warmth of the sun.
The views were spectacular and after our time of disconnection we took some pictures to perpetuate the moment.
With regret we prepared to return. The sun was almost setting. Coming down was much easier. We forgot to count the steps again, but it didn't matter...even if it had been 1000, it was worth it to climb every single one of them.
It was definitely my best birthday present ever. I am so glad I was there with my family for that unforgettable and healing span of time.
