A cow with pink spots? 😮😂. Noooo...it's not really a cow, but yes....has pink spots!!!! Here I am again in this community full of creative people. Today I bring you a very simple recycling project.
If anyone has read other posts I have shared of my crafts, you know that I love working with cardboard and craft paper. With these materials I will be making a frame for a mirror. Its owner, a 10 year old girl, made it very clear to me that the decoration had to be imitating the skin of a cow, but...with pink spots!!! And here I am indulging requests 😁.

Una vaca con manchas rosadas?? 😮😂. Noooo...en realidad no es una vaca, pero sii...¡¡tiene manchas rosadas!! Aquí estoy de nuevo en esta comunidad llena de gente creativa. Hoy les traigo un proyecto de reciclaje muy sencillo.
Si alguien ha leído otros post que he compartido de mis artesanías, sabe que me encanta trabajar el cartón y el papel artesanal. Con estos materiales estaré haciendo un marco para un espejo. Su dueña, una nena de 10 años, me dejó muy claro que la decoración tenía que ser imitando la piel de una vaca, pero...con manchas rosadas!! Y aquí estoy complaciendo peticiones 😁.
For this project the materials list will be as follows:
- Mirror (in this case it was brought by the client)
- Corrugated cardboard (the right size for the mirror we have)
- Craft paper (enough to cover the surface)
- Reused paper
- Glue
- Acrylic paints (white and pink)
- Brushes
- Scissors
- Cutter
- Ruler
- Double-sided tape
Para este proyecto la lista de materiales será la siguiente:
- Espejo (en este caso lo trajo el cliente)
- Cartón ondulado (del tamaño adecuado para el espejo que tenemos)
- Papel craft (suficiente para cubrir la superficie)
- Papel reutilizado
- Pegamento
- Pinturas acrílicas (blanca y rosa)
- Pinceles
- Tijeras
- Cúter
- Regla
- Cinta adhesiva de doble cara
First I will mark the frame on the cardboard. Using the mirror itself as a mold, I will draw its outline. I will draw a similar shape on the inside of the initial mark at 0.5 cm from it and another one on the outside at 6 cm. These marks will delimit the width of the frame and the area that will occupy the step that I will make on the back so that it will serve as a stop and the glass will not fall. With the help of the cutter I will cut along the guide lines.
Primeramente marcaré el marco en el cartón. Utilizando el propio espejo como molde, dibujaré su contorno. Trazaré una forma semejante en el interior de la marca inicial a 0,5 cm de esta y otra por la parte exterior a 6 cm. Esas marcas delimitarán el ancho de el marco y el área que ocupará el peldaño que haré por la parte posterior para que sirva de tope y no se caiga el cristal. Con ayuda del cúter cortaré por la líneas guías.
The second step will be to line it. I will put reused paper on the back and handmade paper on the front. To cover the exposed edges of the cardboard I will cut some strips of craft paper and glue them on the inside and outside of the frame.
El segundo paso será forrar. Por detrás pondré papel reutilizado y por el frente el papel artesanal. Para cubrir los bordes expuestos del cartón cortaré unas tiras de papel artesanal y las pegaré por el interior y el exterior del marco.
Now it's time to paint. Two coats of white acrylic paint will be enough. As the decoration this time is quite simple I won't make any sketch. I will draw the stains spontaneously, nothing predetermined, just taking care of the harmony between them. To make them I will use pink acrylic paint. With the frame ready, the only thing left to do is to mount the mirror and this project will be finished.
Ahora es el momento de pintar. Dos capas de pintura acrílica blanca serán suficientes. Como la decoración esta vez es bastante sencilla no haré ningún boceto. Dibujaré las manchas espontáneamente, nada predeterminado, sólo cuidando la armonía entre ellas. Para hacerlas utilizaré pintura acrílica rosa. Con el marco listo, solo queda montar el espejo y este proyecto estará terminado.
As you can see it is quite simple and allows us to adapt to any shape our mirror has. As cardboard is such a versatile material and easy to work with, we can experiment and create without limiting ourselves.
Cómo pudieron ver es bastante sencillo y nos permite adaptarnos a cualquier forma que tenga nuestro espejo. Al ser el cartón un material tan versátil y fácil de trabajar podemos experimentar y crear sin limitarnos.
