It’s been a while since I and my wife went out to have dinner at a restaurant. Life as young parents doesn’t give us much opportunities to enjoy ourselves, but luckily there are some rare occasions when we find some care for the little guys for at least a couple of hours.
Opening a new place in a world and political situation like this nowadays is not a very simple task, but recently an Italian restaurant has been recently opened in the city we live in. The guy who manages the place ran this takeaway food place for a couple of years and he was dealing only with Pizzas. He had a pretty modern oven that was capable of baking a neapoletan style pizza and we were pretty happy to have this place around. Now the guy has managed to grow his business and open a real scale restaurant.
The place really stands out with modern looks and simple and clean design. Being in a newly constructed building means that everything around is new and ready to fill everyone’s expectations, and I really cannot think of another place that looks so modern looking. The service is also on another level. It’s rarity in our relatively small city to have saloon managers and people taking care of you as soon as you enter their restaurant, but here the attention about customers is great.
We started with an Italian styled salad. The base of the salad was some leaves and baby greens, and it had several slices of prosciutto too. Some Parmesan and pomegranate seeds completed the complexity of the dish. The dressing was balsamic reduction and it had a pretty sweet taste, which complimented the leaves amazingly. Of course, being in Bulgaria you don’t really want to enjoy your salad without some “rakia”, and my choice was a plum made one. My wife, being pregnant went just for some soda water. Her alcohol will have to wait a bit!
And well, the main dish couldn’t be different than pizza! Since we visited Italy about 5 years ago we were constantly searching for a tasty Neapolitan style pizza here and there, and since this guy opened his first place, we were quite pleasantly surprised with his products.
After a bit of hesitance about which pizza to choose, we eventually decided that prosciutto pizza would be a good match for a prosciutto salad! The amount of this delicacy that was in the salad was not enough for us to enjoy the flavor of this famous Italian meat.
The pizza was served in about 10-15 minutes and it was really looking amazing. When we order pizza for takeaway we cannot enjoy it very warm at all, so now we were a bit more excited! The crust of the pizza was really crunchy and the products on top tasted perfect. No sacrifices with the quality of the ingredients here!
My wife, on the other side decided to order an additional dish. She wanted something different than pizza, so her choice was a fresh pasta with truffles and porcini mushrooms.
The truffle taste really stood out quite impressively and the pasta was very delightful - beautifully melting in your mouth. My wife was definitely a lucky winner here! Of course, I was a winner too, because I got the chance to enjoy some of her pasta too.
We were so full with these orders, that we barely had enough room for dessert. We decided to leave it for another visit to this place.
The bill came in a very boutique leather coaster which was branded with the logo of the restaurant. I think all of the layout is very stylish and this is another win for the place and his owner. We spent totally $30 which was relatively cheap for a place like this. And well… we left with big hopes that we will be able to visit this place again, some time soon!
