Then add to that the savings in resources (water, fuel, externalize costs that pollution generate) that soil-less urban vertical farming will yield. Controlled growing environments can avoid using pesticides

Yep. He's a terrific writer. Smart, gripping plots, and interesting characters. I loved this book. If you like his stuff you might also like William Gibson's work.
