Christmas is that period we share love with family and friends. This period of the year marks the longest holiday for the public and the civil servants in my country. So this opportunity is seized by everyone to go back to their extended families and share in the happiness of the celebration of the birth of Christ in their villages. This is the only period when the cities are boring and the fun goes back to the villages. This period marks the time important meetings are held in villages, because most people are back home. And in the spirit of love and oneness, ideas and projects are initiated and funds are easily raised to execute these projects. Sometimes, it's the digging of wells for the community use and other times it's maintaining the dilapidated roads.
The village atmosphere provides comfort to the returnee from cities. The trees, the fresh air and the tranquility the environment provides, is sure to boost the brains of those who came for Christmas in the villages. And with that, the productivity in their places of work in January, is increased. Unlike the cities where the smog from cars, the noise from companies and generators keep your brain strained out.

This Christmas period is the best season for hunting and fishing in the villages. The rain has stopped falling at this period of the year, especially in the middle belt part of Nigeria where I stay, so the grasses are dried and the streams are almost dried up. Those who love fishing, go for fishing while those who love hunting go for hunting. This fishing or hunting is done in groups, according to age grades. That is where they seize the opportunity while hunting or fishing to share ideas or opportunities among themselves. Sometimes, those staying in villages expose the opportunities that can be harnessed by buying foodstuffs at a cheaper rate in the villages and transporting them to cities where their price Can be doubled. Likewise those in cities discuss opportunities of employment to those in villages.
At this period, fruits like oranges, pear and many others are in abundance in the villages. So it provides the fresh taste of fruits that are lacking in cities. Just the way the celebration of the birth of Christ reunites us with family and friends and keeps us refreshed.
