One of my last walks in early fall was this hike through the Sales Foundation.
Here in Galicia all autumns start with rains that extend until winter, so every time there is a cloudless day we have to take advantage of it to go for a walk outdoors.
The Sales Foundation is a botanical garden with paths to walk through, there are a lot of wild and cultivated plants, some of these are brought from other parts and even from other countries.
This place is ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is a place where you will find a haven of peace.
In the center of this garden and surrounded by a lot of vegetation, there is a house built in the sixties that belonged to Francisco de Sales Covelo who was the founder of this botanical garden and that after his death his relatives created the foundation with his name.
The house still preserves the facade and the architecture of the time, although we could not enter, you can see through the glass of the windows that still retain part of the utensils and furniture used by its former owner, also acts as the headquarters of the foundation.
One of the curious things about this place is this plant in the image above. It is called Nenufar Gigante and it is the spoiled plant of the foundation, it has a pond for itself and it is located in a roofed enclosure, and as far as we know this plant is the only one in all of Spain, this is the reason why it is very well cared for.
