Y cito:

Basada en hechos reales.

Bastante incómodo ¿Cierto?

Accepting the invitation to the new contest held by the OCD Community for Movies and TV Shows, I will participate with question number 1:
(1) What is your favorite genre and why? Cite specific examples of the movies you liked the most from that particular genre.

As I mentioned in my Introduction here post, cinema is something I have been passionate about since I was a child. I have seen countless movies and I have always considered that there is no bad movie, they are just movies and I appreciate them in the same way.

But above all of them my favorite genre is horror. The atmosphere of tension that is generated before these films is unique, ranging from fear in its purest state, to the point of making us believe that something (human or supernatural) is waiting for the precise moment to attack us. They are the movies that you dare not watch alone, the ones that cause you nightmares at night and make you check all the dark corners of your room to be sure that what you just saw, did not cross the screen and stayed with you. And if that movie is accompanied by this phrase. And I quote:

Based on true events.

Quite uncomfortable, isn't it?

  • The Grudge de Takashi Shimizu (todas).
  • El Aro de Jonathan Liebesman (todas).
  • Pesadilla en la Calle Elm de Wes Craven (todas).
  • Rose Red de Craig Baxley.
  • Terror en Amityville de Stuart Rosenberg.
  • El exorcismo de Emily Rose de Scott Derrickson.
  • El Conjuro de James Wan (todas).
  • Annabelle de John Leonetti (todas).
  • Actividad Paranormal de Ariel Schulman (todas).
  • It de Andrés Muschietti (todas).
  • La Maldición de la Casa Winchester de Michael Spierig.
  • Drácula, de Bram Stoker de Francis Ford Coppola.
  • 13 Fantasmas de Steve Beck.
  • Cementerio de Mascotas de Mary Lambert (todas).
  • Terror en Silent Hill de Christophe Gans (todas).

Entre muchas otras.

It's a complicated thing to understand, we seem to like suffering. We take the side of the victim in the hope that "good should always triumph over evil ", but this hard ending is not in every horror movie. But there we go on, with the illusion that a -It will continue...- will come and everything will be fixed.

I mention some of the films I liked the most:

  • The Exorcist by John Boorman.
  • Shutter by Banjong Pisanthanakun.
  • The Grudge by Takashi Shimizu (all).
  • The Hoop by Jonathan Liebesman (all).
  • Wes Craven's Nightmare on Elm Street (all).
  • Rose Red by Craig Baxley.
  • Terror in Amityville by Stuart Rosenberg.
  • The Exorcism of Emily Rose by Scott Derrickson.
  • The Conjuring by James Wan (all).
  • Annabelle by John Leonetti (all).
  • Paranormal Activity by Ariel Schulman (all).
  • It by Andrés Muschietti (all).
  • The Curse of the Winchester House by Michael Spierig.
  • Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola.
  • 13 Ghosts by Steve Beck.
  • Pet Cemetery by Mary Lambert (all).
  • Terror at Silent Hill by Christophe Gans (all).

Among many others.
