Sometimes before I paint a larger painting I will make a study or two to try out different ways to get to know my set up better. I usually have a rule also, that if I do a study and get bored then I won't make it into a bigger picture.
Today I am sharing two studies that I made, one that turned into a large scale painting and one that didn't go any furter.
What they both have in common thou, is that I liked them both enough to put a frame on them and sell them as little paintings.
Here they are;
Both paintings are oil on canvas and the sizes are 20 x 25 cm and 20 x 20 cm.
The first one I made into a larger scale painting and ended up being one of my favorite still lifes that I made to this date.
Here are a few pictures of the study, including the finished version;
And here is a close up of the intended study that ended up a finished little painting;
Do you ever make studies before you start a painting or a creative project? :)
Hope you're all good and enjoying this fine Tuesday ;)
