bitcoin uses less energy than banks, but is still an outdated crypto currency, with issues that basically ethereum solves (POS, sharding, higher block frequency, ect)... and whenever there is a bitcoin hype getting your transactions confirmed can take over a day, so i dont think bitcoin is yet there for being the payment system everyone uses, while ethereum might be there.
