germany did very early 200 000 tests a day, and has 25 000 ventilators for its population of size of 80 000 000 people. Germany never ran out of ventilators (in fact currently has 13 000 ventilators unused). yet they have 5500 deaths among 153 000 infected. thats 3.5%. even if the test were only for the 20% with severe symptoms, it would still be 0.7%. this is likely not the case as germany did more tests every day than it has corona patients.
but you see the number of ventilators could very quickly run out, since corona is so infectious. like in the beginning the corona numbers in USA doubled every 3 days, and since delayed symptoms the corona numbers continues to double in the beginning of lockdown. like balancing an iceball on a swordtip.
