This is a stick grasshopper I found in my cocoa plantation. It has a truly unique appearance that sets it apart from typical grasshoppers; it possesses an elongated body that closely resembles a tree twig, featuring four slender, long front legs and two large hind legs used for jumping. Its creamy-brown coloration makes it easy to spot when it perches on plants or green grass. Because of its elongated body, it cannot move or jump as quickly as other grasshoppers, making it easy to locate and catch. When I found it, I immediately photographed it using a macro lens; the results were highly satisfying, as every detail of the insect was clearly visible. Furthermore, its population in my area is quite stable, so it can be found almost anywhere—especially along the edges of rice fields. Like most grasshoppers, this insect is often considered a pest—particularly by farmers—due to its tendency to damage and consume various types of crops; it should not be underestimated, especially when their numbers become excessive.
