I actually participated at 3 startup weekends and won 2, and got 3rd place in one of them, and was also a mentor at one :) I think the most important skill to learn is to sell and do good presentations. You can have the best idea at a startupweekend or in life, but if you cant convince the investors to join or the judges to believe in it, its no use.
