As the name implies, this is a braking system which makes use of the hydraulically mechanism of brake. Many automobile manufacturers prefer using this braking system but various cars manufactured from the year 2012 now use the pneumatic system. The hand brake of a car which acts on the rear wheels are hydraulic operated. One of the advantage of the hydraulic brake system is that the system is designed in such a way of enabling equal pressure to be directly exerted on the brake pads. The chances of failure of this system is very low. There are also to mention but a few merit of this system, like the installation process which is not ambiguous, it is also self-lubricating and due to high friction as a result of heat, the wear and tear rate is also low.
A great demerit which had been observed with this system is that at any point in operation where there is leakage, the brakes will definitely encounter failure. Cars with this system always have a master cylinder for both the front and rear wheels respectively. If air is by any chance present in this system, it would automatically decrease the braking efficiency, it would be necessary that a bleeding operation takes place on the brake system in order to remove the air present therein. For a general safety, when in use of this system, you need to be able to take your car to the technician periodically to inspect the brake hoses, the filler cap should also be kept clear to avoid the admission of air particles. Your choice of brake oil to be used has to be one which is recommended for your car. You should always have a bottle of brake oil in your car so that the level of your brake oil can be topped whenever it is decreased beyond the lower limit on the reserve.
