Dry season is a two edged sword for farmers

For many days now, we’ve been trying to secure our farm lands again bush burning which is inevitable at this period of the year.

It’s a time of the year that is known for hot and dried weather in sub Sahara areas of Africa. During this time, we’re experiencing what is known as harmattan.

Harmattan is a time that severe breeze is being released from seas and oceans which passes through Sahara desert and eventually hits most part of East and West Africa with dryness and dust.

Therefore, we’re faced with this annual challenge around some parts of Africa.

The most part of this season that calls for concern is the wild fire that is common and unavoidable during this time, so you see, everyone remains at alert for fire outbreaks.

Our livestock are left with no green vegetation, we’re left with dry lands throughout the country.

We’re left with no choice than to travel far searching for processed food for our cattle since it’s almost impossible to get fresh and green grasses for them.

Taking care of our livestock this season is very tasking because nature is somehow not favorable to us farmers. We almost buy everything that our livestock needs.

The only benefit that we can be proud of during this season is that it helps to dry some food crops which serves as preservative measures for most of us in developing countries.

If we must produce fresh vegetables for ourselves, it must be from irrigation system and for other very few lucky individuals that stays closer to streams.

For me, I still have some fresh green vegetable garden because I apply water from my irrigation system.

My daily activities remains awesome and interesting because life is full of experience.
