For example, I chose an uncomplicated foreshortening (although, what's so simple about it!), but whatever angle you choose, and in general, so that you do not draw, success will depend on how correctly the first steps were taken. The first steps in this work look like this:
This is the foundation upon which the completed work depends. When I work in CG, my technique is completely different, there I work from a stain, something similar is done by masters working with oil, but for a pencil such a technique is unlikely (perhaps I am mistaken, because, again, I know little about pencils) for this reason, it is on creating the right design that you should focus your attention on the maximum.
Of course, I omit the moment of knowledge of anatomy, understanding of proportions and other necessary skills, this should be present, at least minimally, in your arsenal.
But, as elsewhere, the main thing is not to overdo it. Do not try, at this stage, to draw just such eyes as the model, or any other part of the face, it will be enough to keep the proportions, and the details you draw in another stage of work.
Next, everything is the same, but with some details. I corrected the width of the face, showed the approximate position of the hair (the hair is easily amenable to correction, the only thing to notice is the correct placement, again the proportions), and also noted the areas of the shadow. Pay attention to the fact that I draw both eyes, knowing on the front that one of them will almost completely be hidden in the shade. The shadow is not just a dark spot, it has its levels, somewhere it is more dense, somewhere more scattered, take it into account. So even if the eye is hidden in the shadow, it will still be partially visible - draw both eyes, be sure!
Now you can concentrate on drawing just such eyes and lips that we need, as the next step will add a shadow, which in turn will complicate the correction and other corrections.
Shadow and other dark areas, for example hair:
Apply a denser stroke in the shadow area and start showing the hair. Hair draw from snaking up and in the side, so they will look more natural, to the extent possible or necessary.
Hair is almost complete, we add glare. If you did everything right, drew hair from the ground, it would not be difficult to show the glare. To do this, I use a nag (yes, that's what looks like plasticine). Due to the fact that it is soft (you can blind yourself to the necessary shape) and selects a light stroke of the pencil well, the desired glare effect is created.
To emphasize the light, you need to fill the background. I chose an uneven horizontal bar, darker from the side of the light side of the face and lighter on the shady side. Here you can see the beginning of the hatch:
This is how the completed version looks. I would like to draw your attention to one important point - this is the camera you are shooting your work for. No matter how good they are, they will still distort your drawing. All the step-by-step photos I shot on a mirror camera with auto mode. For comparison, I will show a picture taken on HTC phone, oddly enough, but the camera phone is closer to the original. Ideally, try to scan your work, so you get the most reliable image.
