Recently Splinterlands introduced a new use for SPS which is to allow staked SPS to be delegated. The main benefit of delegating staked SPS is that players who want to maintain ownership of SPS while locking up their SPS.
Best example here is a guild having a central shared account that has a combination of player's SPS staked and then allow the staked amount be delegated to a top player that can then qualify for tournaments and what ever events that requires high SPS staking.

The key note is that any delegated SPS that is undelegated will take 7 days cool down before it is accessible again to the originator. Also any delegated SPS can not be unstaked.
Splinterlands has also added a new user interface for players to manage their SPS delegations. It allows for quick change in addition or deduction of SPS amount delegated. Going back to our original SPS staked from a central account for a guild it will be easy for the guild's managers/owner to delegate staked SPS.
It was mentioned way back when SPS was still a reward air drop that there would one day be a potential earnings yield for players if they delegated SPS to active and top players. That day maybe arriving sooner now that we have the SPS delegation an official function in game.
It is nice to see there is a new use to staked SPS beyond just earning a yield. Speaking of yield once the SPS is delegated to player of choice the earned SPS in staking will remain in owner position and its voting rights. Only the quantity of delegated staked SPS is counted toward player who has the delegation.
