October was another month where I added a lot of cards, mostly Chaos series, into my collection. Here in this post I discuss how my approach was in purchasing the cards and why. Enjoy!
Summoners
For those who played the game long enough it is clear that in order to do well the primary cards to have are high level summoners. For the month of October I was able to add a max level Thaddius Brood.
When To Buy?
For reward cards the best time I think to buy is right after a season. At end of season players who churn a ton of reward cards will likely be some willing to sell to pay for rentals or take out profits from the game. There are just more rewards cards in circulation at end of season so it comes down to supply and demand.
In regards to Chaos series cards and older series sets the best time to buy is when players with higher level bcx cards are selling. Aim toward spending more but have higher level cards as they will cost less $ per bcx that way. The upfront cost being higher will benefit in the long run because you can be purchasing max level cards with that amount.
For example the past couple of weeks a few players were selling off their chaos series cards individually on the open market. This put pressure on prices and it cause $/bcx to fall. Once the high bcx cards were sold the single bcx remained at higher prices.
One way for a quick look to see if there are multiple bcx cards on sale at a given time is going on Splintercards.com and seeing the lowest price gap between 1 bcx and its multiple bcx card. The wider % of price gap the better the sale price on the multiple bcx card.
It takes time to wait for such offers to come on out to the markets. That is why during this time I steadily accumulate liquidity so that down the road I can use it to make purchases.
Where to Earn Income?
The best place to earn DEC or SPS is through playing the game itself. The higher the league the more rewards earned. Yet like many players I did not start off with having much of any Splinterlands assets so I could not earn much DEC or SPS.
So the next best thing I had was Hive.blog. The daily blogging over the years have amassed me a decent amount of Hive and HBD. Although I lost a significant amount of it during this last crypto crash I still have majority of my cards which help me gradually build up liquidity. That liquidity I use to buy new cards.
Blogging, renting out cards, staking SPS and partaking in liquidity pools have help me add daily liquidity. The liquidity I usually add for weeks if not months to then spent on purchases of the cards. If I was not going to purchase cards with the liquidity I would have put it into Hive Power lol.
Conclusions
My strategy to building my Chaos deck goes like this. Blog and mostly play the game to earn rewards. I then save the rewards and await for card prices to fall within range that I can afford them. I purchase cards and once funds are depleted I do the same thing all over again. I continue doing this and gradually build up a deck of cards that I can compete with.
As of now I have close to $1.8k in Chaos cards or just over 130k CP. This is slightly more than a 1/3 of the set and I have multiple duplicates so I feel I have a ways to go but at the very least going in the right direction.
For those hoping and wishing to grow their Splinterlands collections I hope my post gives you hope that you can reach the same goals and then sum. With patience, consistant blogging, and playing I know you can do it too.
