We must be very careful what we allow to enter into our spirit by means of our eyes and ears. Take some time today to focus on what things you pay attention to. Are they worthless? Some temptations we battle every day are the wrong food, social media, worrying, gossip, drinking, lust, pride, too much TV, over spending. The cry of the psalmist on today is that God turns away from his eyes, worthless things and give him sight and life in the ways of God.
LORD, thank you for the gifts of seeing and hearing, and the richness they bring to life. Help me use my senses in ways that are redemptive, that will lead me toward peace rather than away from it. Give me the strength to deal decisively with things that tempt my eyes and ears.
