A week ago today, my friends, Rare Rover 200 BRM was stolen. It was his pride and joy.
The car was being borrowed by my friend's son, and he parked it up outside his apartment. In the morning he went outside and the car wasn't there.
I did the best I could by putting a video together, so people could spread the news and hunt it down. Many of his other friends created posts, some even drove about the local area, looking about for it.
It got a few sightings here and there, but it never stayed in the same place for long enough.
On the first night, the police closed the case but said if anyone has information they will look into opening it up.
Today, My friend got a letter from the police.
It basically said they found it at a scrap yard, but it was crushed...
It is very odd because you cant scrap a car in the UK, unless you have proof of ownership and photo ID.
Why on earth would they scrap a lovely condition car, which is rare, valuable and has a private plate? It seems a bit odd. Even f it was damaged, it would still be easy to see a clean rust free shell.
I looked on the review site of this company, and it wasn't the first time it happened.
Someone said "If your car gets stolen go straight there they take stolen cars from people without logbooks found mine there"
While the company replied "We do not take cars without a logbook. Furthermore, anybody bringing in any material, including scrap cars, for recycling must provide photo ID."
Let's hope that this company will comply with the police and show the CCTV etc.
Sorry if this post is a bit odd, I am just upset for my good friend.
