To plunder, to lie to show your arse are three essentials for climbing high. ~Aristophanes, c. 425 BC
It seems that modern day Republicans have taken Aristophanes advice to heart.
In another "you couldn't make this shit up " moment, Georgia's State Rep. Jason Spencer (R-Woodbine) was the latest political suicide at the hands of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Who Is America?” television show. Adding another log to the dumpster fire that is our American culture, Cohen, while pretending to be a former Israeli Commando, somehow convinced Spencer to do and say some pretty outrageous things.
I thought last week's antics were crazy enough when Cohen, acting as the same Commando character, got several prominent Republican Congressmen and NRA enthusiasts to read off scripts for an imaginary program called Kinderguardians. This was supposedly to be a new government sponsored program wherein they would be training toddlers how to carry and use guns in pre-school. They even got one famous gun nut to do a child's show, in the familiar "Blues Clues" format, informing four year olds how to buy and use guns. Crazy.
But I think this week's lunacy is even worse.
This week, Cohen had Spencer running around with his pants down, screaming racial slurs and vulgarities in an attempt, presumably, to demonstrate to the viewer how to ward off a terrorist attack. Cohen had convinced Spencer that the best defense against an oncoming terrorist is to present his offense. That is, to pretend he was gay, drop his pants and threaten to rub his bare ass against his attacker, portrayed by Cohen. Islamic terrorists, Cohen had told him, are so homophobic that this, more than anything, would ward off their attack.
I know what you are saying. "Fake News", right? Well, if there wasn't tape of it, I would say the same. Watch the video here for yourselves, if you dare. But I warn you, it is not for the weak stomach. It is just another shitshow demonstration of the crumbling decay of what used to be a noble and proud experiment in freedom and democracy.
Watch HERE
If Cohen's stories get progressively worse (or better, depending on your point of view), I cringe (can't wait) to see what disgusting moron he has lined up for this coming week's episode of Political/Career Suicide.
