Sometimes, stereotypes are true.
Across time, societal change and evolution, some types of people just don't seem capable of learning or changing. LBJ understood all too well the foolishness, self-destructive and stoooopid nature of the stereotypical white American poor and their unfailing ability to hurt themselves, especially when they think they are hurting others.
Case in point: Mid-Continent Nail Corporation in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Mid-Continent is one of the last nail manufacturing facilities still left in America. Just a couple of years ago, it employed over 500 workers in a town of about 17,000. And, despite having a black man as POTUS, business was good. Still, they felt change was needed.
The nail plant and its jobs are crucial to the town and its resident's survival. However, because of Trump's trade war with almost every industrialized country in the world, and his tariffs on steel, the plant has had to shed about 60 jobs recently. Operations manager Chris Pratt complains that if things don't change, and soon (which, ya know, they won't), the entire plant will probably close. This will devastate the workers, their families and the entire community.
Not surprising, the town overwhelming voted for Trump. Most of the plant's workers voted for Trump. And, despite their personal woes, they still don't seem to regret their vote for Trump. They say they were looking for things to change and Trump was the man to do it. Although they thought others might suffer from change, they didn't think change and suffering would befall them. Suffering is something other people do... DARK people.
But they have hope. They are asking Trump to carve out a special deal for their nail plant so they can get cheap Mexican steel again and be competitive in the nail market. "Keep doing what you're doing to others, but just not us.", they say. Well don't count on it folks. Trump doesn't care about you anymore than he does anybody else. You've been duped and you've nailed yourselves to the wall, along with the entire planet, in your zest and zeal to make others suffer "change".
I almost feel sorry for y'all...
